Last year I received an email from a lady (Karen Russell) I had taken
some photography classes from proposing doing a yearlong workshop called “A
Year in the Making”. Something in me wanted to take this year long workshop
that had a meet-up in the end but the dates were not good for me due to my job
obligations. Then about two weeks letter she sent another email saying that
because the date did not work for many she would do two in person meet-ups and
the second dates worked for me.
The class started and WOW was it overwhelming at times with 65 women on
one forum and some had known each other but I was not too active in the forms
with the classes I had taken from her in the past so I was starting out a
loner. I had to pick out a word for my year and I choose “ADVENTURE” as I knew
that I wanted to do more exploring even in my own town.
Over the course of the year I hardly took any pictures but I ended up
getting close to some of the most beautiful women that I have ever met. The
last year has been a little hard with some health issues with my husband and a
very close friend of mine. You would think that having that many women there
would be drama but Karen has this ability of bringing together some wonderful
women and there was never any drama and just love.
As we approached the meet-up times in June my husband and a lot of my
friends were worried that I had lost my mind. I knew I was flying to Oregon and
going to her house on a certain day and from there I knew nothing. I did not
know where we were staying when the workshop started or really anything we
would be doing just basics. So, my husband had sent Karen an email stating that
he would like to know where I was staying since his wife had lost her mind and
did not care LOL!. She did respond to him and he asked if I wanted to know but
I didn’t.
So I fly out June 21st to meet 32 women I had met over the
internet not knowing where I was going I just knew I had a knife that my
husband said I had to take with me and send him and my other friend selfie’s
everyday so they could piece together where I was LOL! I was even told by a
co-worker to hide my phone in the woods as he was sure they were going to keep
us and lock us in a dungeon. I was asked for several weeks WHAT IN THE HELL WAS
WRONG WITH ME?
None of that happened and I came back even gladder that I went and
spent the time with these women in person. So, When Karen said she was doing “A
Year in the Making 2” and would I like to do it I told her “I’m IN” and a check
as quick as I could.
On September 15, 2016 I started “A Year in the Making 2” and there is
150 women this time but again some of the coolest women I have met and I know I
will enjoy getting to know these new women and continue to build on the
relationships I formed last year.
